Infections - Got an ear infection and was wondering how long it usually takes to clear up when on?

You may need stronger antibiotics, if it is a bacterial infection, some of them are really nasty! If its caused by a virus, then antibiotics won't help. You should get in to see your primary care doc if u have one, tomorrow, or get in to see an ear/nose/throat specialist if you think it's really bad. I've had some pretty painful long-lasting ear infections that took several rounds of strong antibiotics as well as Prednisone and pain killers like Vicodin. Over the counter you can try an antihistamine to help clear up the fluid, which is what causes the pain when the fluid build up puts pressure on the ear drum/inner ear. The ear drops actually made mine worse because the fluid wasn't draining so the drops just built up.
