The correct pediatric dose of penicillin will depend on the severity of infection, the childs age and weight.
Generally recommended doses are as follows.
Child up to 1 year. 62.5mg every 6 hours, increased up to 12.5mg/kg every 6 hours in severe infection.
1-6 years. 125mg every 6 hours, increased up to 12.5mg/kg every 6 hours in severe infection.
6-12 years. 250mg every 6 hours, increased up to 12.5mg/kg every 6 hours in severe infection.
The suspension is available in 2 strengths 125mg/5ml and 250mg/5ml...
