For Acne "After taking doxycycline for a while, my body became resistant to it, so my dermatologist switched me to Keflex for acne. I think I had at least five bowel movements the first day. Eventually, my digestive system became somewhat regular, but then I started getting headaches on a regular basis. It cleared up my acne somewhat, but it was definitely not worth all the side effects. For Acne "I have been getting these painful boils under my arm since I was 15-16 years old. Now I'm 21. Like a month after I had my baby, my face broke out really, really bad. Cephalexin(Keflex) cleared it right up. I don't get boils any more."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I have a slight eye tissue infection. Optometrist suggested Keflex 2 a day 10 days. Let it be known I have experience taking a large amount of pharma’s over my lifetime. 3 hours into the first pill my back completely seized up and tightened. All my lumbar muscles to a came to an aching halt. Something I have never felt before in my life. I have competed in highly competitive sports my whole life and know my body well from years of training, and never in my life have felt weird muscle discomfort as I did taking this. Almost 24 hours after taking 1 pill I still feel the pain. It all depends on the person after reading other people not feeling any sort of discomfort from taking this stuff. I will not be taking this again."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I was prescribed Keflex and within 5 hours of taking the first dose I developed and intense case of hives covering my upper chest and arms from elbow to elbow. The pain was intense. They took me off the Keflex and I got better, however, I still have issues with hives from even small scratches."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "20 yo son took Keflex generic at 7am Friday for a gross shin wound. After 3 doses, by Saturday afternoon, he had a fever of 102.6. The hospital deemed him covid positive via a rapid test, though son only had a fever as symptoms of anything. The staff seemed excited to tell each of me, hubby, and my parents without son’s permission. Hubby and I each tested negative on non-rapid tests this morning. We will continue Keflex until the dosage is complete, but I would not take this med or allow my son to take it again. My mother is allergic to Keflex. It makes her itch and choke. I’m very certain the Keflex is causing my son’s fever, but covid is a payday, so we just have to deal with it. **He is allergic to amoxicillin"

For Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "I went to the ER, they said I had a UTI so they gave me keflex 500mg 4 times a day for a week. I despise ANY medication because of the side effects but I didn’t want a kidney infection as that’s way worse so I took it. I had nausea and some mild diarrhea about an hour in, normal right? So a few days in I felt like I was hit by a truck I woke up fatigued and my anxiety was so bad and I developed an achy back that lasted a week even after I was done taking it! I still have some mild diarrhea everyday and it’s been a week since I’ve finished the medicine, I have no clue how I pulled through and took all of it. It did indeed clear up my infection but I still feel sick. I know it’s a turn off reading this and it makes you not wanna take the medicine but you HAVE TOO unless you want a kidney infection which is way worse and you’ll be put on even more antibiotics if that happens. Just pull on through but if you genuinely don’t feel good when taking it, talk to your doctor."

For Bacterial Infection "I some how got bit by a spider on my upper thigh area a year ago. No idea what kind of spider it was except I had a really bad reaction to it which concerned me because most times things like that don't affect me much. I ended up going to the hospital and was prescribed Keflex 500mg 4 times/day for 10 days. I noticed improvements within a few days and it cleared up beautifully. I had no side effects whatsoever. Today I had to go see a doctor again about another bite with similar reactions. He also prescribed Keflex 500 for the same dosage and time period. I'm hoping for the same results as last time, but thinking of checking into some probiotics due to the strength of the prescription."

For Bladder Infection "I had cystitis and was put on Macrobid for 5 days only to find out it didn’t do a thing for the infection. My Dr gave me a injection of Rocephin in the office and suggested Keflex for 7 days, three times a day (500mg). The Rocephin gave me a stomach ache and diarrhea, then I took Keflex and it made me queasy the rest of the day. The second pill I was fine, and have remained side effect free since then. I finish my course tomorrow but still feel the cramping and mild pain from a UTI so I’m not sure this antibiotic worked either. We’ll see!"

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I was taking Bactrim for 2 days with no improvement before being prescribed Keflex QID for 7 days to take with Bactrim for an infected cut on my wrist from punching glass. As soon as I began Keflex, I started noticing improvement. It's hard to say whether the improvement or my side effects were from Keflex or Bactrim, so take this with a grain of salt. I had tachycardia, chills, nausea, indigestion, gas pain that felt like chest pain, itching on arms/legs, petechiae on my upper arms, frequent urination, and eventual yeast infection for which I had to take diflucan. I had some symptoms together, and some separate. Most of my side effects came at night though, so it could've been some kind of reaction between the two? The side effects definitely hit me harder in the beginning, but by my 5th day of Keflex, almost all side effects had subsided. I suggest taking with probiotics that can survive stomach acid and easily digestible food and drink a lot of water."

For Bacterial Infection "Hubby has a bad tooth, recently started hurting him extremely bad. Got hold of a dentist to get the tooth out. He prescribed keflex 250mg, for first 3-4 doses he was to take 2 x 3 doses then 1 cap x 3/day until finished. Within 1 dose, his tooth pain went away however on 2nd to 3rd dose the nausea, vomiting, horrible stomach pain that he describes as a nasty pain which he has to make himself puke which gives him short term relief. So if he is able to tolerate the rest of the duration of the script, this will be added to his list of meds he can't take"
