"After trying amoxicillan for 2 weeks with no success for a severve sinus infection I was changed to doxycline 100mcg twice daily . Just starting out on dose no real problems to report so far . Chemist advised 8 hour gap between doses and can take ibroprofen with this to reduce inflammation."

"Having had a virus for 4 weeks and then secondary Bronchitis I was just recently prescribed this. I am only 3 days in and already there is a big difference in how I feel, the mucus is lifting, I can breathe and my chest feels less tight. However it is not without the slightest of side effects which include nausea, a feeling which lasts about an hour after taking and a slight upset stomach and a headache but I can live with all that."

"I am taking this medication for sinusitis and bronchitis. It works but the side effects for me are horrible. Very nauseous, although I take with food and generalized body aches. I feel dizzy occasionally. I dread taking this med !!"

"I had Sinusitis for a week then went to doctors with severe headache, pressure on forehead , I told I have a bacterial infection, headaches, weakness, feeling lethargic. Had one tablet yesterday with a sandwich, one this morning with breakfast. Seems to be fast acting, as my nose is now clear again, no sign of infection, no pressure or pain, I believe this is the best antibiotic I have ever taken, feeling great today. With food also drank 200mls water. I believe everyone is different, I seem fine and can tolerate doxycycline medication just fine, no more pressure headaches .... yippee !"

"I wound up in the ER because I was barely conscious & couldn’t move my body. Prior to this I had been feeling pain in my left arm & in my neck. Felt wired & couldn’t sleep. Nausea, lightheaded, confusion. Within minutes I was unable to raise my arms & was loosing consciousness. Extreme pain in both arms & the tingling was moving to my legs, feet & up body. Felt tingling in my tongue & lips felt like they were getting big. Felt like I had trouble breathing. Extreme pain in arms. Was hallucinating. Even had trouble speaking for a few seconds. Hospital did all kinds of tests & all negative. I told them I thought I was having a reaction. My thoughts about this were dismissed & I was released. I was told to keep taking the doxcy. I didn’t take it for 26 hours & arm pain went away. Took another dose & many symptoms returned. It’s a reaction to the med."

"I’m floored to see so many negative comments about Doxycycline!! After two (miserable!) rounds of another antibiotic, I was prescribed this for severe sinus infection. Within two days I was feeling better!! I was recently prescribed this drug (100mg 2X per day for 14 days) for a staph infection on my ankle. I took the first couple of doses on a empty stomach and felt a little queasy so I started taking it with a small snack and problem solved! More importantly, the infection on my ankle has responded unbelievably to this drug! I will ALWAYS request this medication for my severe infections because the slight nausea is a small price to pay for it's bacteria killing abilities!!!"

"It works, but gave me bad, bad nausea to the point that I threw up afterwards. I had to take it with some food because of how bad it would irritate my stomach. But other than that, it worked fine for my infection."

"This drug doxycycline hasn’t worked very well for my sinus infection. The side effects have been really hard, like intense nausea if you don’t take it very soon after eating. It also causes sensitivity to sunlight, including itchy, itchy arms and feeling temperature sensitivity in the shower. It’s the weirdest side effects I’ve ever had from a drug before."

"Several hours after my first dose I started having bad tendon pain in my shoulder and bicep area as well as a dull pain behind my right eye when looking any direction other than straight. After my second dose I began feeling mentally disconnected and later that night after my second dose my lips, tongue and throat began swelling. I was taken to the ER and was given an antihistamine shot alone with steroids and pepcid. The doctor told me not to take Doxycycline ever again. This drug may work for a lot of people but be careful and watch out for allergic reactions."

"I have been taking Doxy's for years, it treats a wide variety of infection, however, I was taking it for Acne, which works very well for me. I learned over the years of taking this medication is to make sure to eat prior to taking it because it will cause nausea and light-headed ness. Woman need to be especially careful while on Doxy because it can also cause yeast infection."

"I have taken doxycycline numerous times for an infection that never wants to go away( ureaplasma) it's been a year since I've had it. I went to the doctor last week and got put back on doxy. After a day I starting getting a burning sensation around my eyes and sensitivity to light. Then, the next day, the mother of all headaches came, it was like a sinus pressure that went into my eyes. I had to stop taking it due to the headache..if anyone knows what the headache was caused by,please let me know."

"I took this medication in the past for pnuemonia. Felt a little bit nauseous but it was tolerable. Took it two times day. One hour before meal or two hours after meal. Didn't feel sick at day 3. I have a bad sinus infection now. Doc thought since it worked well for me before, I should take it again. This time it has been different. I completed my dose yesterday but I haven't seen change. I still have most of the symptoms plus woke up with a stiff neck. I noticed a few people here developed the stiff neck. Is that a side effect?"

"I took this for 7 days. On day 6 I woke up to swollen eyes/puffy eyelids and uncomfortable pressure in my head. It’s been one week off them now and I still have the pressure in my head. My head feels really off...not right. I also had the bad reaction to sun(rash.) Got tingling in my face as well. I’ve taken many antibiotics and this has been the worst by far. :("

"I had a sinus/ear issue for some time now, worse at times. This last time the Z pack did not help, along with amoxicillin. Sinus always returned until doctor prescribed doxycycline which took about 5 days to get going - prescription for 10 days. The side effect for me was some chest pain and some anxiety taking into account I developed ulcer pain/problems. The chest pain decreased after a week or so. Will stick it out 10 days hope the sinus/ear infections don't come back."

"On 3rd day of taking doxycycline, relief already in my sinuses. No side effects as yet. Take with full glass of water and eat straight afterwards. (this is important because if it gets stuck in your throat/oesophagus it will burn and cause an ulcer - if you eat afterwards you know it has been pushed all the way down)"

"This antibiotic was great! I was terrified at taking it at first because I had read all the negative reviews lol. I had a painful boil under my armpit that had caused me to have a fever and chills and my doctor had prescribed me 100 mg twice a day. The first day taking it my boil had popped on it's own and then from there it started to heal tremendously. One thing I do recommend is taking this medication with food and a glass of water each time. I had no side effects at all!"

After taking amoxillin for 7 days without improvement doctor gave me doxycycline and the symptoms started disappearing after 3 hours of taking the first dose of two tablets. I have taken doxycycline before and never had any side effects."

"Starting to wonder if just fighting the infection with natural immune system would be the better course to take instead of taking this medication. Headache, stiff neck, dizziness, tiredness, heartburn, racing heart,etc..What are doctors trying to pull with this stuff. Seems like patients on chemotherapy feel better than people taking this poison...Can't believe I paid money for this."

"I've been taking doxy on and off for the last 6 years for cystic/nodular acne and for sinus infection when needed. Every time I have an infection I request this antibiotic. I've never developed a tolerance/resistance to this drug. I'm allergic to penicillin, I don't take fluoroquinolones because of the possible dangerous side effects and cephalosporin family makes me sick so doxy is a life savior for me. My face was covered by acne painful cysts now it's 100% clear and everytime I have a flare : doxy on it. Now I take my doxy pill with food and 2 glasses of water and avoid sitting or laying down because I got an esophageal irritation from it before. Everyone's body is different and everyone react different to meds but for me this med is a life savior since I'm so restricted on which antibiotics my body can tolerate."

"Not even sure that I needed an antibiotic but took it on GP’s advice. This medication is awful. Horrendous stomach cramps, indigestion, heartburn, nausea & diarrhoea to name but a few. 7 days after stopping and I’m still suffering with some effects. Had to take time off work. Would not recommend anyone take this medication."
